Overview
Gadodiamide is a linear, nonionic gadolinium chelate formerly used for contrast enhanced MRI studies.
Properties
Extracellular distribution and linear chelation which has been associated with higher risk of gadolinium deposition and NSF in patients with severe renal dysfunction.
Uses
Historically used for general MRI contrast enhancement; many centers have limited or discontinued use in favor of macrocyclic agents.
Safety
Avoid in patients with severe renal impairment; follow current guidelines on agent selection and renal screening.
