Gadobenate dimeglumine

Overview

Gadobenate dimeglumine is a gadolinium based MRI agent with higher relaxivity and partial hepatobiliary uptake compared with standard extracellular agents.

Properties

Enhanced relaxivity improves lesion conspicuity; partial protein binding and hepatocyte uptake provide additional liver lesion characterization.

Uses

Used for brain and body MRI and for improved detection and characterization of liver lesions in selected protocols.

Safety

Screen renal function prior to administration; macrocyclic agents may be preferred in patients at high risk for gadolinium retention.
