Cardiac CT Coronary CTA Protocol

Overview

Coronary CTA requires heart rate control contrast timing and ECG gating to minimize motion and visualize coronary lumen and plaque.

Preparation and Heart Rate Control

Use beta blockade or ivabradine when appropriate to achieve target heart rate and instruct breath hold technique.

Acquisition and Reconstruction

Use prospective or retrospective ECG gating thin collimation and iterative reconstruction with multiplanar and curved planar reformats for coronary assessment.

Reporting Elements

Include coronary calcium score plaque characterization stenosis quantification and assessment of extracoronary findings relevant to management.
