Clinical Practice
Responsibilities include pre procedure assessment monitoring during procedures and post procedure recovery and discharge instructions. Nurses administer medications manage complications and provide patient education. They also support sterile technique and procedural logistics.
Procedures and Tools
Common tools include monitoring equipment infusion pumps contrast administration protocols and emergency resuscitation equipment. Nurses assist in fluoroscopic, CT and MRI guided procedures and maintain MRI safety practices. Documentation and communication with multidisciplinary teams are essential.
Training and Roles
Radiology nurses are registered nurses with additional training in procedural sedation, contrast safety and interventional care. Certification in advanced cardiac life support and procedural competencies is typical. They often serve as clinical educators and quality improvement leads in imaging departments.
