Overview
EMTs provide rapid assessment, basic airway management, bleeding control and safe transport for patients in emergency settings and support paramedic teams.
Scope of Practice
They perform CPR, oxygen therapy, splinting and basic medication administration per protocols and assist in extrication and mass casualty incidents.
Operational Duties
EMTs document care, communicate scene findings to receiving clinicians and participate in community first response and public safety programs.
Training and Certification
EMTs complete accredited training and certification and maintain competencies through continuing education and scenario based drills.
