Perflubutane Microbubbles Sonazoid

Overview

Perflubutane microbubbles known as Sonazoid are an ultrasound contrast agent that provides both vascular phase and post vascular phase imaging due to uptake by Kupffer cells.

Properties

Microbubbles produce strong nonlinear acoustic signals, remain intravascular initially and later localize in liver reticuloendothelial cells for extended imaging.

Uses

Used for liver lesion detection and characterization, guidance for ablation and assessment of tumor vascularity and perfusion.

Safety

Generally well tolerated; contraindications include known hypersensitivity and unstable cardiopulmonary status; follow product administration guidelines.
