Transthoracic Echocardiography Protocol

Overview

Transthoracic echo provides real time assessment of cardiac chambers valves and hemodynamics using 2D Doppler and color flow imaging.

Core Views

Include parasternal long axis parasternal short axis apical four chamber apical two chamber subcostal and suprasternal notch views with Doppler interrogation.

Quantification

Measure chamber sizes wall thickness ejection fraction valve gradients and regurgitant volumes using standardized methods.

Reporting and Indications

Document image quality limitations and correlate with clinical context for indications such as heart failure ischemia and valvular disease.
